High Praise for Family Honor Plate and Table Thyme Discussion Cards

Here’s a unique treat of a review for families all around the world! I give it high praise and am very thankful to have had the chance to review it here at Love2EncourageYou. Today’s product in focus offers a unique and interesting way to teach Biblical principles of good character while developing stronger family bonds and relationships through quality discussion around the dinner table. Owner/Creator, Michelle Weber, calls this a Family Honor Plate and Table Thyme Discussion Cards. Doesn’t that sound like so much fun for family meal times?

The Family Honor Plate starts as a DIY ceramics-painting project you get to create and bake at home. Then it turns into a fun family tradition and parenting tool to raise our children in the fruits of the Holy Spirit, as written in Galatians 5:22.

These fun questions from the Table Thyme Discussion Cards take conversations to a deeper level and teach everyone in the family how to articulate and share special memories, learn how to voice their opinions, and for some how to even have an opinion. These are skills required for success in relationships and careers.  This is a creative and entertaining way for children to learn these skills naturally.
My family has a rather unusual mix of ages with my oldest son being 20 years old and my other two being younger at ten years and six years old. This did not prevent them from enjoying the opportunity to dive into this painting project together and make it a “family print” of sorts with each of them taking their turn to add to the painting of our Family Honor Plate. It was such a delight to see them interacting together in this way and looking forward to having “their day” to be honored when caught exhibiting one of the characteristics on the Family Honor Plate.
The Table Thyme Discussion Cards were particularly interesting to try out. I wasn’t completely sure what sort of response I would get out of my kids. They seemed to really like the opportunity to share their thoughts and their voice on a particular question though and loved getting to have a turn and learn what the other siblings would share. Even mom and dad took their turn on some of them!
Examples of some of the questions or discussion starters are:
*Look at someone at the table and give them a compliment.
*Share about a time when you were sad.
*What’s your favorite book? Why?
*Do you have friends who help you make good choices? Who are they and what are they like?
*Describe something you think your mom or dad does better than anyone else. Why?
I felt the variety of discussion starters were well mixed and appropriate for a variety of ages. I believe the ones specifically geared for adults were designed well to help kids learn more about their parents too.
The Family Honor Plate kit came with EVERYTHING we needed to enjoy this experience together and the plate itself is absolutely beautiful. I really loved getting to do this review with my family. I hope you will consider purchasing The Family Honor Plate for your family or a loved one who might benefit from the well-thought-out discussions and experience wrapped up in the Family Honor Plate and Discussion Thyme Cards.

About the Family Honor Plate:

Step #1 MOM AND DAD – BE THE EXAMPLE. BE THE ROLE-MODEL: The virtues are listed in the center of the plate for mom and dad to use as their anchor, their moral compass to guide them in how they need to show up for and to their children. This is how our children learn what character (Christ’s Character) is, what it looks like, what it feels like. Our children are watching us and learning from us.

Step #2 BE ON THE LOOKOUT: Look for the good choices and attitude your kids/spouse are making and showing throughout the day. Track it back to the virtues and character it shows.

Step #3 CELEBRATE THEIR CHARACTER: Turn dinnertime into a celebration when you catch someone making good choices and showing good character and present their meal on the FAMILY HONOR PLATE. This is when you:
· Talk about the choices they made and the virtues and character that it showed (Be specific).
· Talk about how they made everyone involved feel and the impact they had on people and how that is POWERFUL and BEAUTIFUL.

About the Table Thyme Discussion Cards:

Communication is the key to connecting, building and maintaining healthy relationships. When we are raise our children to be confident in their ability to communicate with others and get their point across, situations are less stressful and they have better outcomes.

Share with me in the comments what your favorite family time discussion memories are? How much do you think a product like the Family Honor Plate and Table Thyme Discussion Cards would make a positive impact on your family discussions at dinner?

ew from Phil Robertson of A&E's Duck Dynasty - UnPHILtered: The W: PreBuy now at FamilyChristian.com

Here are some details of this new release coming soon:

In the #1 “New York Times” bestseller, Happy, Happy, Happy, we learned about Phil Robertson’s colorful past and the wild road to becoming the beloved patriarch of A&E’s smash hit show, “Duck Dynasty.” Now, Phil returns to share his philosophy on life, which can be summed up in five short words: Love God, love your neighbor.

UnPHILtered: The Way I See It is an inspirational and entertaining book, and one where you will discover what makes Phil Robertson tick. He shares his views on faith–and how it has totally changed his way of life and how he treats others; family–how he raised his kids and is raising grandkids while teaching them the life principles he lives by; ducks–and the business principles that started the Duck Commander empire; marriage–including what he’s learned from his own marriage; and of course, his opinions on controversial topics like gun control, taxes, prayer in school, and the government.

UnPHILtered balances Robertson’s sometimes off-the-wall comments with his strong focus on home and family life, and is sure to spark discussion, laughs, and a sincere appreciation for Phil’s unique approach to life.

I’m sure your favorite Duck Dynasty fan will be tickled with both of these great books from the Robertson family. I actually have one more surprise announcement to share with you from the world of Duck Dynasty: Willie’s daughter Sadie also has a book that releases in October! Written towards an audience of teen girls, Sadie’s new book is titled, “Live Original”.
