Where Jesus Slept – Christmas Children’s Book + Giveaway

During a time of year when folks are hustling around buying gifts, wrapping presents, and decorating their homes with lights, it’s nice to slow down and take a moment to read with the children about the deeper reasons for the season we celebrate. God’s Son, Jesus, came to be here as a Savior for all mankind. Learning more about HIM is what it’s all about. You can share that important truth with your children in an easy way with tools like this wonderful children’s book by author, Norma Lewis titled: Where Jesus Slept.

In this beautiful hardcover children’s book, you can present those concepts to the kids in a fun, lighthearted presentation as this writer shared a poem style feel to the book similar to another beloved series …There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly.  My kids were so tickled to hear Where Jesus Slept written in a similar fashion that they asked to read it again and again!

We love the imagery in the book as the illustrator did a phenomenal job giving sweetness to the face of baby Jesus. She also managed to breathe life and character into the eyes of the animals surrounding the child in the manger. Each page is in full color and brilliantly drawn to give respect and glory to our newborn king and Savior – Jesus.

About the book:
“This is the bed where Jesus slept. This is the straw that lined the bed where Jesus slept.” From here, the story builds with each spread, adding a new element and explaining the relationships among the participants and witnesses to the first Christmas. From Jesus sleeping sweetly to the wise men bringing gifts, this charming book reminds readers young and not-so-young of the joyous event we celebrate at Christmastime. Children will love the delightful illustrations and the engaging repetition in this cumulative tale.

Say & Pray Devotions: First Words, Devotions, and Prayers

Kids Book Review:

SAY & PRAY DEVOTIONS: First Words, Devotions, and Prayers

author: Diane Stortz

illustrator: Sarah Ward

This delightful board book about First Words, Verses, Prayers and Devotions was designed and crafted specifically for toddlers to early elementary age. It includes about 19 pages with a front and back side – making it a thick board book which is somewhat uncommon, but very exciting for the reader to be blessed with so many pages to explore! It has beautiful full color illustrations on every page and even the inside covers! It’s made with a strong, secure binding with glossy and smooth pages and cover.

When it comes to graphics or illustrations – this book is a true winner. Sometimes you just want to capture the joyful, happy nature of a child with all their cuteness and innocence for a book like this one – and I believe the illustrator accomplished just that!

It has precious pictures that make you want to go out and play with your child again! I love how they incorporated the words in little elongated bubbles, framed and using a font that is easy to read so it helps early readers work on their sight word vocabulary.

I was tickled by the subjects they chose to cover too – making a joyful noise unto the Lord and other fun ideas! Kids will truly treasure sitting down and reading these devotionals with you. Make bedtime routines fun again with the “Say & Pray Devotions” book and add the blessing of knowing you are instilling within your children’s hearts the nuggets of wisdom and promise from the Lord in the Scriptures.

A huge thank you to Flyby Promotions and the author, Diane Stortz, and illustrator, Sarah Ward, for blessing my family with the opportunity to review this wonderful devotional book for kids. It is a real joy to read and we are excited to be able to share a copy with my readers in a giveaway!

Veggie Tales Super Comics – Keep Kids Reading!

Have you ever struggled with getting your child to buckle down and practice reading or get some good reading time in? One of the many delights of my career as a Preschool and Elementary Teacher was to help students learn to read or develop stronger reading habits. The desire to skip their reading assignment and go off to play or daydream seemed a constant battle with some students, where others adored getting their hands on anything they could read from magazines to comic books.

Today I want to suggest a great way to encourage your reluctant readers to have some fun with their summer reading and keep their skills up. Introducing the Veggie Tales Super Comics Vol. 1 & 2! These are two fantastic new comic books with many of your favorite characters and stories you’ve grown to love from the Veggie Tales brand and they’ve even inserted a few surprise new stories too – all in comic strip form! Each Volume contains three stories with vibrant, colorful illustrations and adorable characters from Veggie Tales.

Both my younger kids enjoyed reading these comic books – especially my youngest who is four years old and just developing his reading habits. He plopped right down on the floor for hours just scouring the pages one by one pointing out his favorite characters and telling me all about the stories in the book. It was just too cute!

I hope you will find offering your reluctant readers something fun like these unique Veggie Tales Super Comics (available at Family Christian Stores and online) to be a sure win/win for you and your budding reader.

VeggieTales SuperComics brings all the fun you’ve come to expect in a popular new format. Each SuperComic includes three VeggieTales stories, hundreds of full-color illustrations and fun bonus features. Stories included in this first volume are Dave and the Giant Pickle, Lyle the Kindly Viking and an all new Larry Boy and the Prideosaurus. Each story focuses on a specific lesson, with sharing, self-esteem, and humility being covered in this volume.

Full of Laughs, Love and Affection – HOME Movie Now in Theaters!

HOME Movie NOW in Theaters 3/27!!

Trailer for HOME movie rated PG. Starts in theaters TODAY! (3/27)

How do you show affection to those you love and care for?  Do you have the kind of relationships with friends and family where you like to visit them in person no matter how far you have to travel to show your love and appreciation for having them in your life? What about blessing others with gifts or acts of kindness? These are just a few of the ways my family likes to show love to others around us. We enjoy taking time to reach out to a different neighbor or friend at least once a week.

One of the fun things we have planned for Spring Break starting today is to go see the new movie HOME with some friends! I highly recommend giving this great new movie a try this weekend and show your loved ones how much you care by taking them along!

About the movie:

When Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own. Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human. And while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word HOME.

Share with us in the comments below how you like to show love and affection to those in your life. Do you live by the motto #micasestucasa ? (My home is your home) I know we do! We have folks visit from all over since we live in Florida and fortunately have a spare room for visitors to feel comfortable and stay for awhile. It’s such a blessing to be able to let my teen son have friends come over for all nighters or sleep overs and enjoy the blessing of being one big family.

Want to have some fun getting ready for the movie? Here are two free images you can use as printables to print for the kids about the new move HOME!

I love mazes for kids and of course coloring pages are always a big hit with my preschooler. I hope your family enjoys these free goodies from the movie HOME. Be sure to share the love and let others know about this giveaway and freebies to the movie HOME too!

Jennifer Lopez Video, Feel the Light
